Physical Therapy

As orthopedic specialized physical therapists, we provide a unique experience to our patients by combining traditional physical therapy methods with the exercise approach of Joseph Pilates. Modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, iontophoresis, moist heat, and ice are utilized to facilitate the healing of injured structures, and to decrease joint and soft tissue inflammation, spasm and pain. Sophisticated manual techniques are performed to restore mobility to stiff areas of the body, followed by strengthening.

While strengthening at PTPR, you will be progressed through a series of exercises on our state-of-the-art Pilates equipment (Reformer, Trap table, and Combo chair). You will also be taught ways to replicate exercises at home, with or without more conventional pieces of equipment.

Although we are highly trained to treat nearly all orthopedic diagnoses, we consider our approach to be exceptional for the following:

  • Spinal injuries and postural syndromes
  • Myofascial pain / arthritic conditions
  • Pelvic floor weakness / prenatal and postpartum conditions
  • Overuse athletic injuries
(especially those of swimmers, overhead athletes, dancers and gymnasts)
  • Lower extremity biomechanical dysfunction
(custom orthotics are provided as needed)

PTPR is "in-network" with most medical insurances, including Anthem BC/BS, Aetna, Cigna, Healthnet, United Health, Medicare, and some others. We also accept auto, worker's comp., and other liability cases. Some insurances require a physician's prescription, but others allow "direct access", where the patient can initiate P.T. without seeing their physician first. Please call our office regarding the benefits and restrictions of your insurance plan as they pertain to our services.

Client Says

"I love Pilates, but every time I tried my Pilates video at home, I would hurt my neck and back.  Coming to work with Kirsten and Mollie taught me how to perform the exercises correctly so that I am now getting the benefits I was hoping for " - T.K.

"As a guy, I never thought I'd do Pilates, but after being introduced to Pilates in physical therapy, I realize how much it complements my other work -outs.  Gaining flexibility and core strength is even improving my golf game." - G.S.

"I would recommend PTPR to anyone, but especially to those with back problems.  There's just no one else around as specialized in treating the spine as Mollie and Kirsten." - B.L.
